Fort Wellington
At Fort Wellington in Prescott, Ontario, across the St. Lawrence from Ogdensburg, a provincial plaque describes the battle from the Canadian point of view. Consisting primarily of earthworks and timber palisades, Fort Wellington played an important role in the war by serving as an obstacle to American movements along the river. The fort has been meticulously restored and is now a popular destination for travelers interested in Canadian history and the War of 1812. Located beside the river on VanKoughnet Street, Fort Wellington National Historic Park is open daily from Victoria Day in mid-May through September 6.
